The House

La Joya del Jable is a canarian Farmhouse which sits in a beautiful Biosphere reserve located in Tao, a small village in the middle of Lanzarote. The house, one of the few original ones left in the area, has its origins hundreds of years ago. Some ceramics and older objects from the 1400, have been found in the property.

For a long time, we have been working manually in this ruin to convert it into the incredible, sustainable and autosuficiente home it’s now today.

The cottage has two double suites, one of them with an adjoining video room that can also be used as an extra bedroom, ideal for adults and children. Two bathrooms, one with a large shower, the other with a long bath and bidet. A spacious lounge with a log fire, a dining area with a piano and a separate traditional kitchen with a gas cooker with oven and even has a seperate stone oven.

There is also a private sitting and sunbathing area created in a sunken garden which sits in the 5000m of grounds, along with barbecue areas and many other exterior sitting and dining areas.

Self sufficient, eco friendly and respecting the canary aesthetics, the cottage is powered by a very effective solar panel system, water deposits and wood burners.

The cottage is located in a rural area, between sandy roads and without neighbours around. In the gardens you can enjoy the magnificent views of the volcanoes, the sea, distant cliffs and the nearest islands of the Chinijo archipelago. At night you can enjoy the peaceful starlit evenings.

The farm

Our family home and animal farm is a creation following our values in order to create a unique place where we can share and enjoy our lifestyle.

In the middle of the biosphere reserve, 500m from the house, you will find our veggie garden with lots of seasonal fruits, and also our farm with a small menagerie of creatures, some of them island residents and others originating elsewhere but co-existing perfectly.

We have been working on maintaining this special birdlife area with egrets, iguanas, parrots, pigs, tortoises, sheep, ducks, peacocks, turkeys, chickens and much more.

We’d love to share our passion for Lanzarote’s life and nature.
